Mardi Gras comes to Paradise Bottom: A Cabaret of Curiosities
Cube Cinema, Bristol, 9th July, 8pm, £8
Summer in Paradise Bottom is normally a sedate affair revolving around cream teas, duck rolling and cheese racing.
This year they've decided to take the fête in their own hands and bring a little crescent city colour to the summer fair. The sleepy village will wake up to New Orleans jazz, bump and grind with saucy sweethearts, gamble on a curious raffle and be amazed by roaming musicians, acrobats and dancers.
The line up includes Tuesday Laveau, The Trans-Avon Exploratory Jazz Society, Sean Duffy, The Cardboard Chorus Line, The Two Fivers, juggler Jon Udry and Non-Locality Circus Theatre!
Dress up and be seen, come in your country tweeds or, better yet, your most extravagant carnival finery! Real pretty prizes to be won in the raffle, with proceeds to the Musicians' Village in New Orleans.www.nolamusiciansvillage.org/
Tickets are available from The Here Shop, Bristol Ticket Shop, Rise and Prime Cuts. Advance booking is highly recommended!
